The Quartetto di Roma is the result of the chamber music and concert experiences of its members, united in their desire to carry on the prestigious tradition of the Italian quartet. The Quartet devotes its attention, beyond that of the standard repertoire for strings, but to other less well-known works from Italian 800s and 900s, their intention is to re-discover an instrumental tradition which for too long has been ignored and undervalued.

From its founding in 1995, the quartet has established itself as one of the most respected groups of the genre, perfecting itself through study at the Chigiana Academy of Siena with Piero Farulli (Italian Quartet) and then with Raphael Hillyer (Julliard Quartet) and Sadao Harada (Tokyo Quartet).

The ensemble schedules an intense concert calendar which brought it appreciation in Italy, Spain, Norway, Turkey, the Far East and above all in Germany, where it has performs several times a year, receiving an ever greater public success and flattering comments from the critics who agree on the appreciation of the technical transparency and expressive intensity. It has been the guest of prestigious events such as the Festivals of Spoleto, Neuschwanstein, Augsburg (Germany), Orlando (Netherlands) and recently, the Musical Weeks Merano. It has recorded for RAI, Spanish National Radio, and the la Bayerischer Rundfunk of Munich.

In April 2008, it was invited as quartet in residence at the Academy of Fine Arts "Nanyang" in Singapore where it held master-classes and concerts.

In 2010 it celebrated 15 years of activity with two highly appreciated recitals at the Berlin Philharmonic and the Royal Palace of Madrid, performed on the four Stradivarius instruments owned by the Royal Museum. In 2012 it returned to the Berlin Philharmonic for a recital which led to a Spanish tour during which it played at the prestigious Palau of Valencia.

The quartet is also dedicated to recording initiating a collaboration with the Bottega Discantica of Milan, for which it has recorded the quintets for strings and clarinet by Mozart and Brahms (released in 2007); a CD including the repertory of Verdi and Puccini for quartet (2009); Mendelssohn's quartets op. 13 and 81 and Quartettstatz by Schubert (2010).  It will soon complete the recording of Mozart's six quartets dedicated to Haydn. Also, in 2009 , a CD was released by Naxos with the quintets with clarinet by Reger and Marteau, recorded at the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich, enthusiastically received by critics in the German press (Die Welt, Suddeutches Zeitung, Augsberger Allgemeine, Der Standard). In May 2015 the quartet will record the quintets with clarinet by P. Benheim and Coleridge Taylor at German Radio of Berlin.
